Wear and tear is normal and the natural patina that gold develops over time is part of its inherent beauty and what makes it uniquely you. Below are some tips to help safeguard your Jade Trau jewelry forever.

01. How To Clean Precious Metals

All of our jewelry is made with solid gold and platinum, preventing any tarnishing issues that may result in metals such as silver. Most naturally occuring discoloration can be easily solved by gently polishing your metal with a soft cloth. For chains, we recommend using a soft bristled toothbrush and a warm soap and water mixture to cautiously push the bristles through each link

02. Diamonds Are Resilient

As the strongest and most resilient of all gemstones, diamonds can stand the test of time...which also means they’re a breeze to clean. They’re resistance to daily wear and tear allows them to withstand regular cleaning. We suggest soaking your diamond pieces in a soapy solution with warm water for a short period of time and gently clean with a very soft brush. To dry your jewelry, simply polish with a dry, lint free cloth and watch your diamonds sparkle like new. 

03. Be Gentle With Gemstones

Gemstone durability is graded from zero to ten, according to the gem’s hardiness. While diamonds register at ten, with sapphires and rubies at nine, softer stones such as emeralds and tanzanites that score between six and eight require more specialist care and won’t survive abrasive cleaning detergents. Use a soft cloth only to avoid any unwanted scratches or inflicting damage to the integrity of your stone. Avoid all harsh chemicals and excessive heat sources as that can lead to cracking later down the road. 

04. Don't Forget Your Storage

All jewelry is susceptible to damage and tarnishing when exposed to extreme heat or humid climates. Make sure to invest in a safe jewelry box to house all of your pieces. Look for containers that offer organization designed specifically for each item and type of jewelry; keep in mind that your pieces should not be touching or tangled together and to keep different metals separated from each other. 

05. R&R Service

Sometimes your JT piece just need a spa day. Whether that's just a deep cleaning or checking to make sure your stones are secure, our concierge team will be able to take in your Jade Trau piece and bring it back to its sparkly self. To start a R&R request, please fill out this form on our repair page here. 

If we determine that we can accept your R&R request, we will provide you with a Repair Authorization number and shipping instructions. This Repair Authorization number must be marked clearly on your package. Customers are responsible for all costs incurred in shipping the item to us, and we will invoice you for the cost of return shipping. Please allow approximately 2 weeks for a repair assessment. A repair fee estimate will be provided either prior to or upon receipt of your item, depending on the nature of the repair.
